Hi. A belated thank you for visiting my site. A few people stopped by from your link, so I thought I'd drop by. I tried to leave a comment on your regular oboeinsight web page for your Eroica posting, but there is no contact info and then you have to register, etc. etc., so this is easier and forces me to relinquish less personal details. :)

I did go to the Thursday evening performance of the Eroica, but just didn't have time to post about it till this weekend. However, given that I'm fairly neophyte to live concerts (I have a recording of this, but given how far SF is on a weeknight, plus budget/time constraints etc., I hardly ever get around to live concerts. I'm far more likely to attend chamber or choral concerts. This was my first live Beethoven 3.), my opinion is not to be trusted. :) I had drastically different opinions from most of the reviews that I read. Plus the coughing-every-10-measures thing was annoying, though as a cougher myself, I shouldn't really talk (however I held it back for as much as I possibly could and coughed a total of 3 times in the entire Eroica--mostly between movements). The Thursday performance didn't get a standing-o, but was lovely nonetheless.

Thanks for visiting, although I should really take this site down, eh? It's entirely unnecessary.

Sorry you won't join oboeinsight, though. Nothing there goes to anyone but me as far as info. I just don't want spambots at the site, so folks have to join.

To be honest, I thought the Beethoven sounded quite unrehearsed. I'm guessing they spent most of the time on the Schuman. (Nor relation to double-n Shumann as far as I know.)
